What is the Brain & Timer Unit – Flood & Drain Standard Remote used for?

This control unit is specifically for the IWS Flood & Drain Systems which use the Brain Buckets. The Standard Brain uses a 13mm fittings (16mm external) and includes a timer mounted on the front of the brain. The timer features a 15-minute interval timer that can alter between just one flooding per day for really absorbent growing media. Alternatively, you can change this to multiple floodings for high drainage media such as clay pebbles.

Furthermore, all of the control units have two internal float switches that control the flood height. The 25 litre brain bucket will keep your system running and adequately fed, even when you’re not there.

How to use the Brain & Timer Unit – Flood & Drain Standard Remote                                   

Start by choosing where exactly you want to place your system. You will need access you a nearby electrical mains socket. Then position the nutrient tank at one end and connect it to the Brain Bucket, rotating the elbow connected to the fill hose inside the Brain pot so it doesn’t overflow the water pump. After that, connect the nutrient tank pump’s power lead to the brain pot. Plug the 3 pin connector into the side of the control box on the brain pot. Make sure that the pump remains positioned at the bottom of the tank.

Create a watertight fitting on each outer pot. Taking a sealing gland, unscrew the small end nut, and remove one of the two rubber sealing washers. Now, carefully screw the sealing gland through the hole in the outer pot so that the narrower end is on the inside. You should now have sealing washers on either side of the pot – both inside and out. Finally, screw the end nut back on and tighten both sides to create a watertight fitting.  Then connect the rest of the system together including your pots.

To set up the timer, set the current time, rotating the face of the timer so the small arrow points at ‘current time’. Ensure that the small switch on the timers face is set in the middle and set when you want the system to fill and empty.
