The AQUAbox Spyder is a revolutionary self-watering solution for growers wanting a DIY system. It requires no mains water supply, pumps or timers, just simply connect it to a water barrel to automatically water your grow area.

What is the AQUAbox Spyder used for?

The AQUAbox Spyder is ideal for watering conventional beds or raised beds. It features a series of capillary wicks which fan out from the unit to distribute water under the soil across an area of up to 1.2 sq/m. When working alongside an AutoPot AQUAvalve, this draws on the water supply as and when required by the plant. Plus, the roots of your plants will instinctively head towards the water source, attaching to the capillary wicks below the soil level.

Furthermore, you should change the wicks every growing season. The spirit level in the lid ensures that the unit is level once positioned in the ground. It is supplied with 2 metres of 6mm pipe and a reducing connector with integral filter, allowing a simple connection to a water barrel tap via a section of standard garden hosepipe. (not included)

How to use the AQUAbox Spyder                                      

To use the AQUAbox Spyder, half fill your raised bed with a good quality compost. You’ll want to create a volcano effect with the soil so the AQUAbox Spyder sits in the middle, on top of the soil. Simply insert the spirit level into the small hole in the lid and push firmly to secure it.

Then using the 6mm Top Hat grommet, push it through the hole at the front of the aqua box. This will help you connect the AQUAvalve easily. After that, connect the AQUAvalve and take out the capillary matting, making sure that the slides of the spider slope downwards. ONce happy with the position of your Spyder, close the lid. However, do not cover with soil. You can then use a watering can or hosepipe to prepare the compost for your seeds. As the plants grow the roots in the raised bed will search for the water source. Therefore heading directly for the AQUAbox Spyder.
