What is the Lumatek 600w Dimmable Ballast used for?

The Lumatek 600w Dimmable Ballast is an incredibly energy-efficient ballast which produces top quality results. It features 4 different settings from 250w – 660w which help to produce the best performance for each stage of your grow. Likewise, you can use these with both high-pressure sodium or metal halide lamps. This proven robust ballast features intelligent startup and soft dimming, therefore generate much less heat than other conventional ballasts. Plus it runs silent, and is ever so discrete!

Furthermore, the dimmer function enables you to manipulate the light output during the different stages of plant development. This enables you to run your lights at a lower wattage during vegetation when they don’t need high light levels. Then you can increase this to superlumens during flowering to fully maximise your yield.

Where can you use the Lumatek 600w Dimmable Ballast?

This ballast is for use with either HPS or MH bulbs, if using MH bulbs you will not be able to use the dimmer function or super lumen settings. If you do, you may risk damaging your system. To use MH bulbs set the dimmer switch to the exact wattage of the bulb you are using. Although, when using with an HPS bulb we recommend that you let the ballast run for 10 minutes before changing the bulb output.

How to use the Lumatek 600w Dimmable Ballast                                

When using the Lumatek Dimmable Ballast it is very important that you give your lamp enough time to cool down before you restart it. For hot lamps, you should leave them to cool for around 30 minutes. Likewise, you should never turn the lamp off before it reaches its full intensity.

When mounting your ballasts do make sure that you do not place it in an area of very high heat. Do not mount the ballast to your reflector or allow exhaust air to blow over them. Plus ballasts should never be put on top of each other, you should mount each unit 6 inches apart.
