What are the Lumatek Dimmable Ballasts used for?

The Lumatek Dimmable Ballasts help you to boost your lamps output, whilst also giving you maximum control over light settings. The feature a dimmer function which lets you run your grow lights at a lower wattage during vegetable growth. This is because your plants do not need as high light levels during this period. Likewise, the option to switch to ‘super lumens’ enables you to fully maximise the unit for the best results during flowering. Therefore, increasing your yield. These ballasts are available in 600w which features 4 settings of 400w, 400w super lumens, 600w and 600w super lumens. Where can you use the Lumatek Dimmable Ballasts?

If you are wanting to use the Lumatek Dimmable Ballasts, they do work best with HPS lights. However, if you want to use a metal halide lamp you will not be able to use the dimmer or super lumen options. This could permanently damage your lamps if you use these settings.

How to use the Lumatek Dimmable Ballasts                               

When using the Lumatek Dimmable Ballast it is very important that you give your lamp enough time to cool down before you restart it. For hot lamps, you should leave them to cool for around 30 minutes. Likewise, you should never turn the lamp off before it reaches its full intensity.

When mounting your ballasts do make sure that you do not place it in an area of very high heat. Do not mount the ballast to your reflector or allow exhaust air to blow over them. Plus ballasts must never be put on top of each other, instead, you should mount each unit 6 inches apart.
