Hydroponic Tent
An indoor tent is the corner stone of your hydroponic set up, it houses all your other components and keeps your growing environment enclosed so the climate can be tightly controlled.
Normally lined with a light reflecting mylar surface, the tent helps to greatly reduce light output waste from your Lamp or LED by bouncing most light back onto the plants.
The bars that hold the tents shape also allow an easy way to hang lighting, ventilation, filters and other accessories inside the tent.
Ventilation sock holes allow ducting, water and other pipes to be ran into the tent to supply nutrients or extract heat and air from inside the tent.

Carbon Filter
Carbon filters are normally used to neutralise harmful airborne particles and also reduce odours within your growing area. This ensures your plants stay healthy and also keeps your building smelling fresh.
Carbon filters come in a range of sizes and dimensions, the larger your tent, the larger filter you’ll need to be efficient in removing particles and odours.
When buying a carbon filter, you must make sure the fan you use with the filter is compatible or else you can damage the filter.

Ducting
Ventilation ducting is the best way to transport air and heat into or out of your grow tent.
Most of the time flexible piping is preferred to hardline metal piping because it is easier to assemble and more cost effective, it's also easier to re-use.
The two main types of flexible ducting are Aluminium Ducting which is metal foil wrapped around coils of wire to form a pipe, then Acoustic Ducting which is the same as standard but with a layer of foam or fibreglass around the outside, this layer greatly reduces fan noise escaping the pipe and also helps prevent heat dispersing into your building.
Typically ducting is paired with a fan and filter to suck air out of a tent, through the filter, down the ducting and out of your building.

Air Circulation
Air circulation within your tent is important because without a natural air current, the plants will not develop a strong healthy stem which is vital for their growth cycle.
The best options for this inside a tent are clip on fans which attach to the structual poles of the tent and can be adjusted to point at the plants.

Grow Lighting
The most important part of your tent setup, the Lighting provides your plant with the Light it needs to grow. The two most popular kinds of Lighting used in hydroponics are HPS Lightbulbs and panels of LEDs.
High Pressure Sodium bulbs are the older tried and tested method of providing different spectrums of light for your plants, typically either Red, Blue or Dual spectrum bulbs are used. Blue light is important for the vegetive stage of your plants growth while Red is most important for when the plant flowers and produces crops. They need to be used with a Ballast to power them.
LED Lights are the latest technology that provide the entire spectrum of light your plant needs, they produce less heat than bulbs, last a lot longer and use far less electric than a bulb does.

Accessories
Accessories make looking after your plants easier and save you time, for example checking the temperature and humidity inside your tent from the outside with an LCD Hygrometer & Temperature Probe.
They can also be used to help you automate your growing environment, such as a fan controller that will automatically turn your extraction fan on and off based on the temperature, or a humidity controller that turns your humidifier on and off based on the humidity.
Other common options are those that help and support your plants, a scrog or crop net helps to keep your plants stem straight and give them something to cling to. Quality scissors can make trimming your plants much faster and efficient.

Grow Pots
The pots you use are important because they can be used to control the size of your plants, generally the more space they are given means the root systems get larger and the plant gets bigger. If you have limited space and the pots are close together, you must make sure the pots are not too large or it will get too crowded and the plants leaves will interfere with each other.
The most common pots used are standard Plastic Pots, Fabric Root Pots and Special Pots designed for use in an auto-feeding system.
Fabric pots have grown in popularity because they allow the roots of your plant to breathe and produce better results than traditional pots.
